friday sessions.

the last thing i wanted to write about was yesterday's morning workshop with darren and david, we continued working in our project groups and made a visual research on every part of our brief. our presentation and speech were not well organized, because we ran out of time. time management is a really important and tough to learn thing.
so our task for the next tuesday is to make the same kind of work on our own. it's a good one but not that simple, cause we've used practically all the pics i've found on the internet on the "self education" theme. but i'll try my best.
in the afternoon we had an induction illustrator lecture with jo.

ok go new vid.

ok go have been always doing a great stuff, the last video wasn't exception -

And here is the rest of it

open shop

on wednesday i went on an open shop, which was a part of the internet week. we had really great time in 5 different creative agencies! it was really a great opportunity to get to know how are the agencies looking from the insight! all the speakers were very kind to tell us about their ways of creating working process. one of the most interesting things was that they are doing the same thing but their approaches are various! despite of this there were some common points which all the speakers were saying. the first one was the necessity of communication and collaboration! it's such a great idea which was repeated for the last month of studies by our tutors! and that is so contrast to the way of working i have had for almost 4 years in my old university in russia.
the second thing was - you need to find some thing that you're most interested in, and work hard on it. hard working and devotion to your work are the key words in every undertaking. you need to be really passionate about what you're doing.
the reflection of your work and your own thoughts on it is a really important thing as well. as well as your ability of presenting yourself.
we've been to abnormaly, naked, lbi, poke, mother, poke again & attended the brilliant design lecture at the end.
the event i've been taking a part in was a "creative road" so there were not only design students but advertising people as well. it was quite interesting to hear the questions they've been asking. so i can say with certainty that the open shop was useful not only for my professional, but for personal development as well!
i wish there were more of events like this one!
mindblowing view out of naked's studio.

there is a post on cr site about the poke's recent project.
and here is the naked's last foster's ads with alan partridge.

long time no see.

alright, i'm sorry i haven't written anything for such a long time, there were so many interesting events that i honestly hadn't had much time.
on last friday i had a tutorial with jo, we talked a bit about the system of education, my impressions of it so far. she looked through my blog and asked me about collages.
i can't wait to buy an iphone so i'll have more time to write on my blog, i promise that it'll become more interesting and i'll start posting more frequently! i hope it'll happen in a couple of days.
i have not as many collages as wanted, but i have got an idea and the layout, so i just need to do the rest. i came up with some system of doing them quicker, i'll post about the process some time soon. promise!

on tuesday we had our first group tutorial with paul, which was useful and interesting. it gave us an opportunity to apply on practice the knowledge we've got on the idea workshop. our quite small group of 8 was divided on two of 4, so we went trough 4 main points – considering all factors, dominant idea, concept challenge & stepping stone – on our common brief and came up with completely different ideas on outcomes. and it is unbelievable how some quite simple scheme makes you brain work in such wide mode and different ways!

we had technical workshops with david as well. it was quite nice but i was familiar to all of the stuff that david was showing us.
i'd like to share this moleskine stop-motion ads, it's nice!

hey, c'mon guys, answer few questions >>>here!!
pretty please!

street typography.

i'll put some pictures of typography on the streets which i find interesting. it's like the process of making paul's task. i don't think that each is "oh so good" but i see in those examples something that catches my attention and kind of inspires me.

the second workshop i was so impressed by was research. during this one i got to know my group-mates for the next 5 weeks.

we need to create a project for small company which is interested in sending to style conscious 20-30 year olds the message "educate yourself".
i think it's pretty good one, we were lucky that day!
there were so many people in our class! i guess i got used to seeing just my group.

[here is the result of our day's research]

it's been a while

since my last post. blogging takes much time. few days ago i've understood that i hate the internet. cause it's full of useless information. writing things down in diary and reading books at library is much better.
in that case i'd like to tell about 2 workshops which i so much enjoyed! first one is sketchbooks workshop. sketchbooks are not very popular in russia so i've started my first ones in there. that's why karl's lecture (if this word is suitable) was very interesting and useful for me. it was very interesting to look through his own sketchbooks. it's like you're getting into artist's head. and it's strange but nice feeling.
i spent saturday summarizing and analyzing the things i've learned during my first 4 weeks at college, so i'll put some of my writings here.
on karl's workshop we were suppose to create a sketchbook about our 5 main resource areas. we modified our sketchbook into sketchboxes! our group took some smelly materials from each area and put them into separated containers. we actually had fun!
this is it!
